Whether it be for fitness, fun, family or with the intention of entering adventure races., there are so many fundamental skills to learn about biking which can help make it more enjoyable and so you can progress through whatever goals you may have.

For the past few years we have run a full on one-day bike skills workshop, catering for 40-50 women each time, linking it with bike maintenance and sports nutrition.

Last year we decided to do it differently and run series of Tuesday evening skills sessions and group rides. This worked really well and we’ve decide to roll the same program out again this year. Our hope is that you can learn a few skills one week and then practice them on a ride the next week and then move onto different skills and then practice them, without getting overwhelmed with too much info in one go, giving you more time to consolidate it while riding before learning more.

If this 5 week program doesn’t work for you, we will be running some one day work shops later in year, please let us know here with details of what would work for you and we will try and make it happen.

5 week program; one bike maintenance night, 4 skills and ride sessions.
Time: 6-8pm every Wednesday (11 Feb-11 Mar 2015)
Cost: $115 for 5 weeks (no part sign ups, sorry)

  • Outside Sports bike maintenance evening
  • welcome drink
  • 8 hours of specific bike skills coaching
  • guiding through new stage appropriate trails
  • meet like-mined and similar level women to ride with
  • final fling BBQ
  • donation to Bike Wanaka for all the awesome trail building work

The program will start on Wed 11 Feb with a meet and greet at Outside Sports bike shop for a women’s specific bike tech session and beverages!

Proposed program Feb- March 2015
Wed. 11 Feb– Outside Sports Bike- maintenance evening and welcome drink 6.30pm
Wed.18 Feb– Skills session 1
Wed. 25 Feb– Coached group ride
Wed. 4 Mar– Skills session 2
Wed. 11 Mar– Coached group ride


The aim is for different ability groups of 6 participants each. There might also be a second tail guide/ coach with each group.

Location: The skills sessions will be in one spot and the group rides will move locations each week.
